Grass fed lamb steaks
The leg steaks can be boneless or come with the bone in.
The bone-in steaks are cut from the centre of the leg and contain a small bone in the centre of each steak.
Lamb steak is a delicious and quick alternative to cooking a whole leg of lamb.
Grass fed lamb vs. grass finished lamb
Looking to buy high quality, sustainable lamb?
Then it’s important to understand the difference between ‘grass fed’ and grass finished’.
Grain finished
Grass fed lamb means lambs that have grazed on grass for a significant portion of their lives.
It doesn’t always mean that the lamb has only consumed grass throughout its entire life.
This means, some grass fed lambs might be “grain finished,” meaning they are fed grains during the final stages before processing to fatten them up.
Grass finished
Grass finished lamb, is lamb raised exclusively on grass and forage from start to finish.
These lambs never consume grains or grain byproducts, ensuring a 100% grass-based diet.
Grass fed lamb is used interchangeably with grass finished lamb, with the same commitment to a purely grass-fed diet.
Benefits of grass fed lamb
- Improved Animal Welfare
Raising lambs on grass promotes better animal welfare, as it allows them to engage in natural grazing behaviours. - These lambs live in a less stressful environment, with a far more nutritious diet compared to those raised in conventional feedlots.
- Environmental Sustainability
Grass finished lamb farming is more environmentally sustainable, as it promotes healthy soil, reduces erosion, and supports biodiversity. This method of farming also has a lower carbon footprint, as it eliminates the need for energy-intensive grain production.
